Milk Powder Coconut Burfi is a traditional Indian dessert that is made with a few simple ingredients, including milk powder, coconut, sugar, and ghee. The mixture is cooked until it forms a dense, sweet bar that can be cut into squares or diamonds. The bar is then garnished with almond slivers or chopped cashews for added flavor and texture. This sweet treat is perfect for festivals, celebrations, or simply to enjoy as a sweet snack any time of the day.
Assemble all ingredients to avoid last minute rush.
Cooking
Take a Kadai and heat ghee into it on low flame.
Now, add milk and milk powder into it and stir completely to avoid any lumps. Add milk powder into batches so that no lumps will be formed.
Now, add sugar into it and mix well.
Cook the mixture until it starts combining together. Do not overcook the mixture otherwise it will turn sticky and becomes rubber like texture.
Now, heat clarified butter in a Pan or Kadai on a low heat.
Add desiccated coconut into the Kadai and sauté it a little. You will feel the aroma of coconut. Do not overcook the coconut.
Now add sautéed coconut into the prepared milk powder mixture and mix well.
Take a square or rectangle mould or baking tray and place butter paper in it.
Now, add the mixture into the mould or tray and set the mixture evenly into it for 2 hours.
You can also sprinkle some chopped dry fruits of your choice and press dry fruits a little on top of the mixture so that they will stick to Burfi. This is totally exceptional step.
After 2 hours, take set mixture out of mould and cut it into your desired shape.
Milk powder: It is a very good and easy substitute for khoya or mawa.
Flavoring: For flavoring, you can add cardamom powder or kesar as well. It is completely personal choice.
Consistency: Consistency of the mixture should be thick and the mixture should come together to form a good shape.
