Instructions
Pre-Cooking Preparation
Soak the rice flour in water for 30 minutes.
Drain the excess water and mix the rice flour with salt.
Grate the coconut and set aside.
Cooking Steps
Take a puttu maker and place the cylindrical vessel on the bottom.
Fill the bottom layer of the vessel with grated coconut.
Add a layer of the rice flour mixture on top of the coconut.
Repeat the layers of coconut and rice flour until the vessel is filled to the top.
Cover the puttu maker with its lid and place it on the stove.
Cook the puttu on medium heat for 10-12 minutes or until fully steamed.
Once done, remove the puttu from the puttu maker and serve hot.

Notes & Comments
You can add jaggery or sugar to the rice flour mixture for a sweeter puttu.
For added flavor, you can also add cardamom powder, nutmeg powder, or cinnamon powder to the rice flour mixture.
The proportion of coconut to rice flour can be adjusted to your liking.
Puttu can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
