Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup green gram lentil / moong dal split and husked green gram lentils
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin (Jeera)
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds / rai
  • 1 teaspoon ghee / clarified butter
  • 2-3 dried red chilli
  • 2-3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1- inch ginger grated
  • 1 Onions chopped
  • 2-3 green chillies chopped
  • 2 tablespoons coriander leaves / cilantro chopped

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the moong dal thoroughly in water and set aside.

  • Turn the Instant Pot on to the sauté mode. Heat the ghee or oil and add the cumin seeds, mustard seeds, dried red chilies, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
  • Add the chopped onion and green chilies, and sauté for another 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the moong dal, water, salt, and turmeric powder to the Instant Pot. Stir well.
  • Close the lid and make sure the pressure release valve is in the sealed position. Press the manual or pressure cook button and set the timer for 10 minutes on high pressure.
  • Once the cooking time is complete, let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes, then release any remaining pressure manually.
